At Ahnu we believe that collaboration inspires innovation and vice versa; and it shows in our teamwork and our products. We are a small team that works together, plays together and that thrives on shared inspiration. That philosophy improves our results and adds to the fun.
We also draw inspiration from our company name. "Ahnu" derives from the goddess of balance and well-being in Celtic mythology. The choice is both deliberate and appropriate, as we balance work and play, as well as business goals with social and environmental responsibility.
From the gold standard of factory certification (we’re manufactured in one of the few footwear factories in the world with SA8000 (+ link) accreditation), to the use of certified post-consumer recycled fibers in our catalogs and packaging, our commitment is visible throughout all aspects of our brand.
Our product goal is to achieve uncompromising footwear performance. We work with leading biomechanists, designers and athletes to develop footwear that will provide the appropriate balance of traction, grip, flexibility, cushioning and durability for a variety of outdoor activities – whether on trails, beaches or sidewalks.
We use the latest, cutting edge materials and best practices in biomechanical design to provide support, comfort and protection without "fashion tech" or faux gimmicky design.

ETC – Ahnu incorporates ETC Linings on our performance sockliners. Designed for high durability, breathability, colorfastness and resistance to deterioration, ETC has the lowest coefficient of friction of any lining material available in the world today. ETC also provides antimicrobial protection with a 99% reduction in bacteria. Consider it your protection against blisters and fragrant feet.
Ortholite - Our mary-jane and ballet styles feature Ortholite pods that offer breathability, moisture transport and anti-microbial function to create a cooler, drier and healthier environment inside the shoe. Dry feet are happy feet.
Thinsulate – Our Lodi Mid waterproof/breathable style features Thinsulate insulation that keeps the shoes warm and light. Thinsulate insulation has nearly twice the warmth of foam, felt or pile and is one of the lightest synthetic insulations on the market. We feature 200 grams, recommended for cool climates or for high activity levels where the wearer generates/builds a lot of body heat through activity. Warm feet make for great adventures.
